Nash at 10 weeks old

10 weeks 2 days old, August, 2011

Monday, August 8, 2011

Well A LOT has happened in the past few months! Bedrest, induced, pushed & had a c-section, now we have an almost 8 week old at home! At first we thought I can't believe they are letting us take this little person home but now we don't know what we'd do without him.

The first real smiles came around 6 weeks. He still gets a big grin right before he spits up though, luckily I'm starting to tell the difference :) Nash is very good at holding his head up too. He is getting soooo big, I can't believe it, so solid haha!

It's a little challenging with Brett out of town 3-4 nights a week in Keokuk working on a school but we're figuring it out slowly. It will not be fun when I go back to work! He still gets up every 4 hours to eat but thankfully he goes right back to bed.

We have made trips up to Webster City & Vincent to visit family, also ventured down to the Farmer's Market & his first Hello Dave concert! Next on little Nash's destinations is the Iowa State Fair!

34 weeks!

Well on April 25th I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Big bummer! My pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin to breakdown glucose in my body / my carb intake, in other words I eat too much junk :) I've been eating a lot healthier & wiser, but also poking my finger to test my blood glucose 4 times a day. Docs decided to put me on Glyburide last week to help with my fasting number which was above normal more often than not due to my liver producing to much glucose during the night. Anyhoo, this has all been very educational for me & a lesson to live a healthier life for when this little guy comes.

Ultrasound on May 24 showed he's not too big, 60th percentile. Everything looks good with him, placenta, cord & amniotic fluid, etc. Heartbeat was 142. She said I'm likely to deliver a week early due to the gestational diabetes by induction though. This would be Friday July 1. I go to the doc every week now so they'll keep me updated.

Had Ankeny Baby Shower last Saturday which was very nice. Those things are always awkward, hate being the center of attention, gifts are nice though!

Currently Brett is doped up on the couch. He had sinus surgery today for a severely deviated septum & blocked sinuses. They cut slits in his sinuses for drainage & straightened his septum, which doc said had a 90 degree angle to it. Poor thing is miserable & keeps going in & out of sleep, so of course I have to pick on him a little :)

Dresser & Name

So... 27 weeks 5 days & we've been getting things done slowly, still seems like there's tons to do! That seems to be the common theme. Brett sanded an old dresser we had in the guest room aka Mike's old bedroom. I believe it was Dr. Pataceks dresser, a doc Patty used to work with at Bliss Cancer Center. Brett inherited while helping him moved a loooong time ago. It will be used as a changing table & a dresser. I stained it using a water based Coffee color first, it wasn't dark enough so I added 2 coats of Onyx on top of that. It turned out very nice, not professional by any means but a nice big dresser & FREE for Nash to use for many years. Kind of weird since Brett & I have never owned a dresser, but hey I've heard this is what happens when you have a kid! I'll post before & after pics as soon as it has handles & is completely finished.

Lately Brett & I have been having a little discrepancy with the name of our little bundle. It dawned on me that it might be neat to have my maiden name (Kelly) as his middle name, this way the Kelly name stays in the family :) Ran this by Brett & he for some reason is hooked on the name Nashua instead of Nash... I don't get it. So Nashua Kelly Walker or Nash Kelly Walker. I figure I'll leave it for now & he can't refuse me in the hospital after giving birth, hehe. I'm counting on Nash Kelly Walker.

Baby Movement

Nash has been moving quite a bit today! Currently at 25 weeks & 3 days. He had hiccips a few days ago, that was a trip. It's getting harder to bend over, my legs seem little sore lately & I still need to find motivation but other than that things aren't that bad... yet :)

22 Weeks!

Found out a few weeks ago that we are having a BOY! We are so crazy excited! Brett wanted our first one to be a boy, so he could be an older brother to a younger sibling, if we chose to have another one :) We've decided on a name, Nash Edward Walker. I came across the name on the internet & loved it right off the bat & it made me perk up. There have been other names that I like but none that really made me perk. Middle is my dad's middle name & my grandpa Kelly's first name. I wanted to include my dad in the name some how since we don't get to carry on the Kelly name :)

I have started to feel some movement down there, nothing very definite but I know it's not gas now. I can't wait until Brett can feel! Speaking of Brett, he worked a crazy amount in February. He literally worked every single day in Feb. Last week he worked 84.5 hours in 7 days. He mentioned that he might have to stay in Keokuk the summer of 2012 too. Brett's parents, Jim & Patty, came down a few Thursdays ago & painted our guestroom while we were at work! The room was completely painted & everything cleaned up when we got home, it was absolutely wonderful! I went ahead and ordered some baby bedding from Target, baby bedding is freaking expensive! It's fairly simple, not crazy colors & seems to go with a lot of different things. The primary colors are brown, khaki and blues. I need to pick a blue paint color for the crib wall & then the remaining walls will be a neutral khaki. I can't wait to get the room "put together".

My next OB appointment is March 22nd in Ankeny, I will be a few days short of 25 weeks. OMGoodness time flies! It seems like less time when you count it in weeks, instead of saying I'm due July 8th , I say I have 18 weeks left (3/4/11) :)

18 weeks!

Friday 2/4/11 I was 18 weeks pregnant. Everything is going very well! Very anxious to find out what we are having on Wednesday 2/16/11. I'm thinking boy, but I catch myself calling it "her" & "she"; most people are saying girl. We'll see!
